It’s the turn of actor and footballer Ralf Little to discover his family history on Who Do You Think You Are? – but how much do you know about the star?

1. Lucky break

Ralf Little’s break in acting came when he was cast as Antony Royle in the BBC sitcom The Royle Family. He gave up his studies at the University of Manchester Medical School in order to work as an actor. Interestingly, Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston, who played Antony’s parents Jim and Barbara Royle, have both also appeared on Who Do You Think You Are?

2. Treading the boards

As well as his work in TV and film, Ralf has also appeared extensively on the stage, including being nominated for an Olivier Award in 2001 for his performance as George Harrison in the play Presence.

3. Man of the match

As well as acting, Ralf is a semi-professional footballer who has played for clubs including Maidstone United, Edgware Town and Chertsey Town.

4. Lager and laughs

Ralf played Jonny Keogh in the first six series of the sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. He now co-presents a podcast with his former costar Will Mellor, Two Pints with Will & Ralf.

5. Tropical TV

In 2020, Ralf took over the lead role in the BBC TV series Death in Paradise, playing DI Neville Parker.
