Bertha Baldry on a day trip to Margate
I love this photograph of my great aunt Bertha Baldry looking confident and stylish on a company day trip to Margate c1911. She was an assistant in a draper's shop and lived with her sister Mabel who was a dressmaker.
Gertrude Sailman in Jamaica
This is my great grandmother Gertrude Sailman. She was born in Jamaica in 1882 but was in England by 1891. This may have been her last photograph in Jamaica.
Grandma climbing a tree
Most of us see our grandparents as old. One of the joys of family albums is that they can show a different side. This is my grandmother climbing a tree!
Playing soldiers
My great grandfather taught at Patna College in India, and here he is with his son playing soldiers in around 1919.
Unknown soldier
Most of us probably have photographs in our collection of people we can't name. This solder from the First World War is one such example. I wonder whether he survived the war.
Potter family with silly hats
My 3x great grandfather has all the look of the Victorian patriarch here, but his sons appear to have a sense of humour!
Birthday party in India
This photograph was taken in India during the First World War. I'm not sure whose party this was, but my great aunt (back row, second from right) is enjoying herself!
