We realise that it is difficult making a decision at a virtual event when you can’t ask questions easily so we’ve put together answers to some of the questions people have asked us at previous events. How often does the magazine come out?
Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine comes out every four weeks, so as a subscriber you will receive 13 issues a year.
Do you only cover British ancestry?
Although our main focus is on British ancestry we do also sometimes cover other geographical areas especially Ireland and countries that were once part of the British Empire.
What historic period does the magazine cover and is it suitable for beginners and experts?
Our articles stretch back from medieval times right up to the 20th century although most of our emphasis is on records and social history from 1700 onwards. We always have articles that will suit beginners as well as plenty of features for people who have been doing their family history for many years.
Which issue will my subscription start with?
You can choose the first issue of your subscription during our checkout process. If you are buying as a gift for someone, you can make sure their first magazine doesn’t arrive before a certain date. If you do not select a future date, your first magazine with be the next issue that is available. We are unable to start a subscription from a previous issue or the latest copy on sale in the shops. When you subscribe through buysubscriptions.com you will receive an order confirmation email stating the date of your first issue.
Can I choose which six issues are included in the offer?
As above, you can select when you would like your subscription to start. The copies you will receive after that will be monthly and cannot be chosen. For example, if you choose to start with the May 2021 issue, then June, July, August etc will follow.
Can I cancel at any time and how do I do this?
Yes, you can do this through the account you would have set up on buysubscriptions.com. Alternatively, if you have subscribed via the direct debit offer then you can cancel this with your bank. You can also contact our customer service team via www.buysubscriptions.com/contactus, or call us on 03330 162 120 (overseas readers can call on 01604 973 728) if you have any concerns.
What if I don’t want to continue after six issues?
You can simply cancel your subscription using one of the methods above. You will need to do this no later than 2 weeks after you have received your 5th copy.
How do I buy back issues?
If you are looking for a particular topic, then you can search our magazine index. Only the past six issues are available to buy as paper issues. How do I buy a digital subscription?
You can either purchase a digital subscription through Buysubscriptions or you can install the app and purchase a subscription from within the app.
Do I have to download an app?
Yes you do have to download our free app from either the App Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android devices. The iOS app offers a different experience to the Android app. You can see how the iOS edition looks on our Booth Demos. The Android app offers a similar experience to the print magazine.
How do I add a digital subscription to the app?
Your digital subscription will become active within 24 hours of your order being placed. To access your subscription, download the app from your app store. Open the app and login by tapping ‘Subscriptions’ on the bottom navigation bar. Scroll down if necessary and in the bottom right tap the ‘Log in’ link next to ‘Subscribed elsewhere?’. Can I switch from a print subscription to a digital subscription?

Yes, our subscription offers include free delivery from the UK direct to your door! Just select which country you would like the magazine to be delivered to from the drop down menu during the checkout process.
Do you still offer hugs?
Sadly current social distancing has made it impossible for us to hug our readers, but getting a magazine each month can still give you a little bit of joy in these difficult times. And, as soon as this pandemic is over, we’ll be offering hugs from our booth again, just like the good old days.
