When is the new series of Who Do You Think You Are? on TV?

The 2020 series of Who Do You Think You Are? will start in October after delays due to coronavirus

The first episode of Who Do You Think You Are? series 17, starring Doctor Who‘s Jodie Whittaker, will air at 9pm on BBC One on Monday 12 October.


It will be followed by three more episodes starring actor and author David Walliams on 19 October, Gavin & Stacey‘s Ruth Jones on 26 October, and Silent Witness actor Liz Carr on 2 November.

All four episodes of the popular family history show were filmed earlier in 2020 before the coronavirus lockdown began.

What can we expect from the series?


The episode themes will include Jodie Whittaker discovering the truth behind her great uncle’s death in the First World War and tracing her family history in Yorkshire; David Walliams also travelling to the First World War battlefields and discovering an ancestor who was an entertainer; Liz Carr finding an ancestor who was involved in an attempted murder in County Armagh, Northern Ireland; and Ruth Jones discovering her family’s link to the Medical Aid Societies of South Wales, which provided a model for the National Health Service.
