Katarina Johnson-Thompson was born on 9 January 1993 and is 33 years old. She is a British multi-event athlete who represented Team GB at the 2012, 2016 and 2024 Olympics and at the Commonwealth Games. She is a heptathlete and an indoor pentathlete.
She won gold in the heptathlon at the 2019 World Championships in Qatar and the 2023 World Championships in Budapest and silver in the heptathlon at the 2024 Olympics.
In her career, she has competed alongside greats such as Jessica Ennis-Hill from Team GB and Nafi Thiam from Belgium.
Since 2016, Katarina has split her time between Liverpool and Montpellier, France, where she is coached.
She has appeared in TV shows such as A League of Their Own, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, and A Question of Sport.
She has been dating fellow athlete Andrew Pozzi, who represented Team GB in hurdling and retired in 2024, since 2018.

1. Jet setting baby
Katarina was born in Liverpool in 1993, but she spent the first year of her life in Nassau, the Bahamas, with her father.
2. Famous friends
She attended St Julie’s Catholic High School, where she became close friends with future TV star Jodie Comer.
3. Sport first
Katarina went to Liverpool John Moores University but only attended for 21 days before leaving to focus on her sports.
4. Recognised by royalty
In 2025, she was awarded an MBE for her contribution to athletics.
5. Record holder
In her career, Katarina has set two British records. She made a height of 1.94 metres in high jump in 2015, which surpassed her own record of 1.96 metres the year before. Before Katarina, Debbie Marti’s 1.95 metres jump had held the record since 1997. Her second record was the British indoor long jump in 2015, where she reached a distance of 6.93 metres, also beating her own record from the year before.
