Holds parish registers dating back to the 16th century, plus electoral registers, Memorial Inscriptions (recorded by Gwynedd FHS), probate indexes (1699-1858, the wills themselves are at the National Library of Wales), newspapers, tithe maps and apportionments, land tax and school records, poor law material, directories and records of the Quarter Sessions.

It holds an index of old "Banbridge Chronicles", 1870 - 1890, as well as birth, marriage and death records for the South Down area (Banbridge, Newry & Mourne, Downpatrick). Most of these records date from the mid-1800s, though some going back to the late 1700s. In total there were some 750, 000 records indexed. The Services has copies of Griffith’s Valuation for the Banbridge and Newry areas, OS maps and a reference library with an extensive database of BMD records.

A number of Surrey libraries have local history centres, all of which can be contacted via the number above. Sources vary but all have census and parish material (thought the original parish records at the Surrey History Centre), fiche/film readers and computer access, while some also have maps, directories, photographic collections and newspapers. This branch covers Banstead, Burgh Heath, Chipstead, Hooley, Kingswood, Lower Kingswood, Netherne-on-the-Hill, Preston, Tadworth, Tattenhams, Walton-on-the-Hill and Woodman-sterne.

General Register Office indexes 1837-2004 and parish registers on fiche, plus local census returns (1841-1901). Some archival material, such as rate books, school logbooks, property deeds and business records, are kept off-site so an appointment is necessary to view them.

Holds microfiche copies of parish registers, street directories, rate books, newspapers, Quarter Sessions registers, MIs and much more. The online catalogue currently takes in around half of the material. The website has a good family history section with guides to sources, including lesser-known examples, such as its canal boats registers, which list boats and their owners from 1885 to 1926.
