By Daniel Cossins, 13 August 2009 - 4:52pm

A new transcription of the 1901 census for England and Wales has been completed and made available at Findmypast.com.

The website now boasts a complete collection of transcriptions and newly-scanned digital images of the orginal census returns from 1901.

5.6 million more records have been uploaded now that the final 24 counties and other UK territories have been added to existing 1901 collection.

Findmypast.com hope this new transcription will help researchers find elusive ancestors
whose names have been wrongly transcribed in earlier versions.

Susbcribers can search the census in full by clicking here.
