Family history website Findmypast is inviting members of the public to apply to take part in a new ‘Who Do You Think You Are? style experience’.

Last year, Findmypast produced ‘Finding Janet’, a short film following family historian Janet Pogson.

With the help of Findmypast genealogists, Janet traced the life of her 2x great grandmother, also named Janet, who was a female captain on a canal boat in Yorkshire.

Now, Findmypast is inviting family historians to apply to be featured in the next Who Do You Think You Are? style video.

Thomas Davis, Head of Community at Findmypast, said, "If you have a family history mystery to solve, you too can apply to be the star of your own family history adventure.”

Findmypast said: “One person will have an exclusive session with Findmypast experts to discuss their family history and share any brick walls or mysteries to be solved. Experts will then get to work researching their family tree, discovering stories – and maybe even some surprises – in Findmypast’s billions of records, historical newspapers, and interconnected tree network.

“This person will be invited to a location relevant to their family to discover the new stories uncovered by the genealogy experts. Their day out will take them to several other places as they piece together the experiences of their ancestors and bring them to life. The day will be filmed, and turned into a short video which will be launched on social media, Findmypast’s website, and even showcased in the local press.”

To apply to take part, simply fill in this online form describing your family history discovery or mystery by Sunday 28 January.

Applicants must be over 18 and residents of the UK.
