Part of Sarah’s journey takes her to Canada, where she attempts to trace her 4 x great grandfather, John Malcolm.

An expert on the history of the Hudson’s Bay Company, Dr Scott Stevens, shows her some pictures of Moose Factory as John would have seen it.

Scott then presents Sarah with company journals that recall her ancestor’s terrible ordeal when he was left stranded in the snow.

Local historian, Jane Bowen, helps Sarah get to grips with the reality of life as a diver. She shows her two accounts detailing the work done by divers and a notice requesting the recovery of bodies from the Pegasus.

Sarah meets Dr John Bevan from the Historic Diving Society (HDS) who shows her a registration document for a ship. It reveals that her 3 x great grandfather James Holt was a salvager, and also one of the very first people who could list his occupation as ‘diver’.

She then meets two other members of the HDS who not only let her try on a diving suit, but also have record stating that her forebear helped to recover cargo from a shipwreck near Holy Island.
