Levi Charles Thain was born 2nd May 1845 in Repps, Norfolk. His parents were Noah Thain 1811-1896 and Mary Ann Thain 1814-1849.
Levi was baptised in Repps with Bastwick "St. Peter & St. Paul" church on 21st May 1848.
He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Class 2 and given the service number 9898A.
He appears in the 1861 census as a Boy sailor in Mediterranean Vessels, Royal Navy aged 16.
Trekked to local library to access his service record on Ancestry. Sadly just found list of boys joining the Royal Navy. Levi ship being H.M.S. Pembroke.
Cannot find any further evidence of Levi after 1861 census. His sister named a child Levi Charles in 1870 and I wondered if this was due to her brother dying.
What I am looking to find is which ship he was serving aboard at the time of the 1861 census and his subsequent career.
Can any member please help?

Have you checked his service record at The National Archives,

I have just looked on The National Archives site. They do hold Levi's service papers. If you haven't used the site before, go to the site or the link on the previous entry. Click on Discovery - scroll down to find the Royal Navy records on the left hand side. Scroll down again where you will find a search section. Then up will pop the details of what is held for Levi. You may have to order them. I found records for an ancestor serving in the 1840s to the 1860s - they proved to be very interesting.
