I remember when I started work as a student nurse in a psychiatric hospital in the 70's the notes of some patients who were admitted years before were quite awful. I can clearly remember a considerable number being described as "this stupid woman" by the consultant psychiatrist. Let's hope things have changed now!

Yes, I've got some asylum records like that and mine date from the 1880s right up until 1939! Mind you in those days they thought epileptics were insane.

i liked fiona's episode, as i was interested to see if i had a connection with her tree, unfortunately, my Bruce family doesnt come from Rathven apart from one mae ancestor who was born there in 1826 but of Northern irish parents.
i may also have Bruce ancestors in scotland but before the 1750's so nothing concrete yet!
just have to wait for my uncle to find the tree in a box in his house!

I failed to save the programme and I wonder if anyone can remind me of the RGA Battery number her ancestor was in when he was killed please?
