World War One Hospital Pictures

Postby Diggerz » Fri Dec 06, 2013 4:57 pm

I have three pictures of my Dad's Great Uncle taken during the First World War.
I know that he was a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery and at some point sustained an injury.
I have three pictures of him in Hospital Uniform and wondered if anyone had any idea how I might pinpoint where they were taken.
Any advice gratefully received.

I saw an article with photos similar to this, regarding a stately home that was used for a military hospital. It was called Stamford Military Hospital. Have a look see what you think, it maybe a starting point for you.

:? it won't let me add the link, it says too spamy for a new user. So try a search on Stamford Military Hospital. It was on the mail online site.

Or, if you haven't already, try a google image search.

Some pics and info on Stamford Military Hospital can be found in the December issue of 'Lift-Off!' magazine.

An update, featuring Kate Adie, will follow in the March/April issue.

The 'hospital' will be open to the public in March.

Have you been able to obtain his service records. I have may grandfather's. He was injured and his records tell me where he was during the time if his treatment back in England. Hope that is of some help.
