Dating a male photo

Postby Barbara Winterton » Fri Oct 11, 2013 11:50 am

I have been unable to find the studio where this photo was taken. The photo has been trimmed and some of the information on the back is missing. It was taken in the U.S.A. Studios who had 8 addresses in London plus addresses in the "Provinces" The remains of a date appears to end 61 and the Branch EDG RD. I am not certain that the 61 is a date
The photo is one of two that were both framed with wooden mounts on top of the cardboard. The other photo is a lady who is in mourning and the information on the photographer indicates it was taken between 1900 and 1910. This would fit with my husband's Great grandmother who was widowed in 1903.

This is the reverse of the above photo. Looking at the top left more closely I am less certain that it is the remains of a date.

Many thanks for the reply. It eliminates my husband's gg grandfather as he died in 1903. Still on the hunt for the actual person now.

I suggest that BRANCH EDG RD means Edgware Road which is the A5 running NW out of London. It is a busy road and would have many shops and possibly a photo studio.
