Straw Plaiting in and around Luton

Postby ksouthall » Sun Sep 22, 2013 4:56 pm

I have just come across a website which contains photos of artefacts related to the straw plaiting and hat making industries that were prominent in and around Luton, Bedfordshire. Having ancestors involved in these trades, the photos have helped explain some of the job titles.

The photos can be found at:-

There are also other local history photos available on the website, as follows:-

The website seems to cover Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and East Anglia as it is hosted by the East of Britain Broadband Network. I had never come across this site before until looking at the Dacorum website mentioned in a recent WDYTYA? e-newsletter.
