Tip when restoring old photographs

Postby Grandma Jedi » Fri Aug 30, 2013 3:44 pm

I scanned an old photograph that I wanted to repair and spent an hour working on small areas editing out blotches and scratches. Only when I retrieved the original photo from the scanner did I realise that the blotches were clouds and most of the scratch lines were outriggers on an old aeroplane! Fortunately the editing programme that I use saves the original image of the photo so I could start again. So the tip is have the original photograph next to your screen when doing the editing so you know what to repair and what to leave alone!

Good luck with your editing, Grandma Jedi.
