Ernest’s mother remained in London and lived at 91 Earlsfield Road, Wandsworth, until her death in 1936.

Ernest PHELPS is not listed on:
*CWGC “Debt of Honour Register”
*Soldiers Died in the Great War”
*I can’t find a soldiers personal file on ancestry
*I can’t find any Absent Voters Lists
*I can’t find Ernest on any outgoing passenger lists
*I can’t find a marriage or death record in England

If anyone is able to provide clues to discovering the whereabouts of ERNEST PHELPS after 1911, I would be elated! Thank you for your help, J. Phelps, Canada

Hello J. Phelps, Canada

Using Ancestry I found an Ernest Phelps on the 1918 electoral roll living at 8 Pownall Terrace Lambeth London
There is then a marriage for an Ernest Phelps to May B Bench J-M Qtr St George Hanover Square London Vol 1A Page 872 - it would be worth getting this marriage certificate through the General Register Office here even if it is for elimination purposes.
If that is your man they went on to have two children - Marjorie I. born J-S Qtr 1920 Lambeth and Ernest E. born A-J Qtr 1924 Lambeth.
I couldn't immediately find a death for either Ernest or May but hopefully this is of help in the meantime.
Good luck

Good morning,
Not trying to butt in but if that marriage is right ,the couple are on the electoral register up to 1964 when they are together at 10 Pearman St,Vauxhall.
Death for May Bertha Phelps born 8.4.1898 died Dec 1969 Lambeth 5d 43.
I can't spot one that fits for Ernest either.

Hello all.
Hoping this reaches you as its 4 years since you posted.
I have just been directed to this thread as I recently posted a lovely photo of Ernest Phelps in Uniform on the Great War Forum which you might like to see. Sorry dont know anything about his military career which is why I went to that site. If you a subscription to Ancestry there are quite a few Phelps family trees.
Keen to learn more about him and his family and happy to share information.
