Postby Grandma Jedi » Tue Jul 30, 2013 3:08 pm

Can someone please help date this photograph of one of my McBean great aunts?

Thank you for any help that is offered.

It looks late Victorian to me. Victoria died in 1901, so if you have dates for this lady you might be able to work it out.
People in old photographs always look 'old' but this could be someone celebrating their 21st birthday with a studio portrait.

I can't help with the exact year but the photographer appears to be A.F. Mackenzie who worked in Birnam Perthshire, does this location tie in with any of your relatives? A Wikipedia entry refers to an 1890 photo so the Victorian era is correct.

Thank you Kay and Rita. The family were from Glasgow and a Kate McBean was born in 1880 so this could have been taken for her 21st birthday, good thinking!
