Is this photo of Coldstreamers on foreign service duty?

Postby sarah1675 » Wed Jul 24, 2013 5:53 am

Hi!
I'm trying to find out a bit more about my paternal grandfather's time in the army. Leonard James d.o.b. 2/09/1900, was in the British army but I don't know the exact dates.
My dad had the impression that he served in WW1, but in a group shot I have of him he doesn't have a medal bar on but others in the photo do. According to my Dad, Leonard was a Coldstreamer and one photo I have of him (portrait shot attached) seems to back that up. But I am very confused by a group shot I have (attached). There seems to be several different units (not sure if that's the right word) present. Could anyone help me identify:
- When this group shot was taken
- Where this group shot was taken (country or region)
- Whether the soldiers are part of the Coldstream guards or not
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
Sarah J
