Military Records

Postby amv999 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 6:29 pm

I am struggling to find my grandfather's military record:
Arthur George Vinnicombe b 1916

He married my grandmother in Wales in 1940 and my father says his father was in France during WW2.

I have checked forces war records and ancestry for any records but can not find anything - can anyone suggest a way to track down what he did during WW2?

Thanks

Ann-Marie

WW2 records are still held by the MOD and are closed to all but the individual concerned or their next of kin so your father could apply or give you permission to do so. The fee is £30 and it can take a long time for them to process the application. This link explains fully and has the necessary forms.
