Millitary Badge

Postby Dene Fisher » Thu May 02, 2013 2:56 pm

I realise that it's an extremely long shot but anybody help to identify the badge shown in the attached photo please?

The photo is of the husband of my great aunt (Jane Rostron) - James Augustus Parkinson (1899-1928). On the birth certificate of their first child (Ronald) in 1920, James's occupation is General Labourer - Ex Army which is why I think the badge might be millitary

Given his age WW1 is probably likely?

James was born in Bolton, Lancashire and in 1911 is living at Walker Fold Farm, Lostock, Bolton. At the time of his marriage he is living @ 50 Cannon Street Bolton

Thanks in advance for any help

:^) it is the Cap badge of the Loyal North Lancashire regiment.

what helped me was after googling -- 'british regiment insignia cap badge'
I came across an image, of a collection with your badge at the bottom, too small to be read, but could make out the image - the site was - british badge forum

I know what a pain researching military ancestors is, so glad to help you. there is a forum - GreatWarForum which is very useful, bit of a headache to work it out at first, but full of experts.

best wishes
