Estate Duty Registers

Thank you so much for this article on pp 61-63 of the May issue. I have used Estate Duty Records many times in past years (usually by ordering up a microfilm through the LDS), with great success. One instance I remember related to a will where a man left his estate to be divided between his children - all under age, but he didn't name any of them. From the Estate Duty Records - I was able to discover their names and calculate dates of birth from the dates when they came into their inheritances on reaching their majority.

Paul Blake's excellent article provided useful background information to improve my understanding of these records.

I just hope that sometime soon either TNA or one of the commercial organisations will digitise them all so we can access them more easily.
