Searching for a WW1 soldier

Postby Abcnat » Thu Apr 04, 2013 9:54 pm

I am looking for information about my great-grandfather, Zelig Aron Zeiderman (sometimes spelt Zaydeman). On his marriage certificate from 1918, he is listed as Private 32777 of the 5th Battalion Rifle Brigade. His regular occupation was a jeweller. The story goes that he was gassed during WWI and never recovered from his injuries. I have a French death certificate from 1928 which states he died in an asylum in Rouen. I would be grateful for any information that you have or if you are able to tell me where I could find more information about him. I have not been able to trace him under his Army number, so any help would be great! Thanks so much, Natalie

I have not been able to identify a medal index card for him on Ancestry or TNA or other WWI military record. His name has probably been severely mistranscribed. However, suggest that you have a look at http://www.1914-1918.net/ and also post your query on the Great War Forum which is full of WWI military experts. http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/
Good luck!
