Vichy France POW

Postby Undun » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:10 am

I am researching an uncle that died in 1974 before I started tracing my family tree. This Uncle; Richard Pedder served onboard HMS Manchester and was subsequently sunk during the 1942 Malta convoy. Family stories indicate that he was taken prisoner of war in Tunisia and held captive by the Vichy French. I am seeking information on where they were held how the repatriation was effected. I would also be interested in locating any records that may indicate a prisoner no etc. So far I have found German POW returns but nothing for these prisoners, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you google "HMS Manchester 1942" there are quite a few web sites about the Manchester and the fate of its crew. Regards Jeff Ward.
