1911 Census

Postby Lindaand4boys » Sun Feb 10, 2013 7:22 pm

I have done a conventional search on my grandfather Percy Henry Baker in the 1911 census, but cannot find him. He signed up to the army in 1910 and I am guessing he was out of the country at the time. How can I find him on the census - are there records kept of soldiers out of the country at the time of the census?

Hi ,

Yes you can find soldiers serving overseas on the 1911 census. Using Ancestry just put his name in and select Military from the dropdown box for Residence ( It's listed amongst the counties ). You will need to use Old Search to do this - it can be accessed by selecting Search All Records - the Go to Old Search button will appear over on the right. There are several Percy Bakers.
