Heirloom Repair

Postby eurogordi » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:26 am

My wife and I have come into possession of a family heirloom that was previously owned by a family member who served in the RAF and was killed in WW2. The item in question is an inscribed stainless steel teapot dated 1940.

However, near the inscription there is an unfortunate dent - perhaps the size of a finger tip or slightly smaller. Does anyone know whether this could be professionally repaired and, even better, does anyone know of someone who could do this in the Southampton area?

Any suggestions welcome, as we certainly don't want to try and push out the dent ourselves.

Many thanks

Gordon,

Damage to stainless steel produts can be repaired. My recommendation would be to consult a local antiques dealer or auctioners to see if they can recommend someone local who could carry out professional repairs.
