I'm hoping that someone can give me some information about the masonic regalia my grandfather is wearing in the photo. I assume it belongs to the Freemasons. Could I find out his rank from his apron? What colours would his apron have been?
He would have been living in Watford at the time. Are there any records that would show when he joined?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi
Apron would be white leather with pale blue edging
The badge at the bottom of his collar (also white edged with blue)
shows that he has been Master of the Lodge

If you contact the Grand Lodge of England http://www.ugle.org.uk/
they will be able to give you details about him .

Thank you Iain for your helpful reply. I have learned a great deal about the Freemasons from the website this weekend. Coincidentally, my husband's paternal grandfather has an identical apron. I think I have identified my grandfather's Lodge in Watford and will try to obtain records from them.
Thank you again for replying,
