The Rising Sun - Warsash

Postby february127 » Tue Jan 29, 2008 11:06 pm

My Father was billeted at The Rising Sun pub in Warsash, Hampshire during 1943-45. He was a Chief Stoker in the Royal Navy.
I have a photo which shows him as being in the 13th Mobile Unit, HMS Tormentor.

Does anyone know of this unit and what they did?

I googled for "HMS Tormentor" and found quite a lot sites which explained the type of work that went on there. You may find this one interesting [link=http://www.lhi.org.uk/projects_directory/projects_by_region/south_east/hampshire/hms_cricketcricket_camp_heritage_initiative/dday_landings.html]http://www.lhi.org.uk/projects_directory/projects_by_region/south_east/hampshire/hms_cricketcricket_camp_heritage_initiative/dday_landings.html[/link] but there are several others.
