7th Kings Liverpool and 7th Reserves.

Wondering if anyone can help with information about the Kings Regiment of Liverpool, specifically the 7th and 7th reserves. My Great Grandfather served with them during WW1. I have tracked down his military records but now looking to find out more detail about where he may have fought and the regiment itself. From his military records it appears he was in France from March 1915 to Sept 1917 before being discharged due to shrapnel wounds. Any help with research material will be gratefully recieved.
Thanks Andrew.

The main source of records is The National Archives at Kew. However, a most useful on-line guide to get you started is "The Long Long Trail" - this is the relevant page for The King's (Liverpool) Regiment in 1914-1918 http://www.1914-1918.net/kings.htm . For each Battalion it gives when and where they were mobilised, it looks as if your grandfather wasa probably in the 1/7th Bn (one of the Territorials)
1/7th Battalion
August 1914 : in Park St, Bootle. Part of Liverpool Brigade, West Lancashire Division.
8 March 1915 : landed at Le Havre and transferred to 6th Brigade, 2nd Division.
4 September 1915 : transferred to 5th Brigade in same Division.
15 November 1915 : transferred to 22nd Brigade, 7th Division.
7 January 1916 : transferred to 165th Brigade, 55th (West Lancashire) Division.

There is a great deal more to explore on this website, so good hunting!
