Issue 61 June 2012

Postby callbrian » Sat May 12, 2012 2:19 pm

Hi
I have tried to download the Kelly's 1911 directory and been directed to 'web page not accessible'.
Also the bonus content listed does not appear to be the same as printed in the magazine.

Regards

Brian

I suspect that is because the site is still only showing the may magazine.

Why if June is out hasn't it been updated. I have tried ove the past 3 days to no avail. I have refreshed and cleared the cache etc, but still it will only show May.

Hi there,

The June bonus content has definitely been added – it was published to the site on Thursday, and should be live at the top of the page here http://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/bonuscontent. If you're still unable to see it, something else is going on: could you send me an email to matt.elton@immediate.co.uk?

Apologies again,

Matt

And Brian, sorry to hear that you've been having problems downloading the Kelly's Directory files – I tried on Saturday and again this morning, and have been able to access all three PDFs on both occasions. If you're still having no luck, though, drop me a line at matt.elton@immediate.co.uk and I'll do some more investigating.

(Also, which parts of the content are coming up for you as different from those listed in the magazine? I'm pretty sure that everything that's listed is available to download, but there may be something going on with the way in which the data is being displayed.)

All the best,

Matt

Hi
Thanks for your replies.

I definitely found the June issue 61 bonus content on Saturday, it just wasn't what was listed in the magazine and would not download.
I can now see all the content as listed in the magazine and I am presently trying to download the items I wanted.I'm not sure what happened on Saturday but several items including Pigots Directory and Royal Bucks Militia were not shown and I was directed away from the page on IE.
There does still seem to be a problem with these two 'missing' downloads as I have now been directed away again. error message 404 file or directory missing or unavailable.

I'm not having any trouble finding issue 61 , but a couple of the Download links are
coming up with an " Error- page not found " message , one of the Army List links
takes me back to the website home page and the box to put the magazine code in
didn't appear at all. It doesn't seem very reliable !

Didn't get this problem when we had the CD on the front cover and the CDs could be looked at without going onto the web.
Interested in the surname SNELL circa 1910, Middlesex. and Claudia Vail nee Snell, living and married in Canada from about 1912/16.

Hi Colin,

The password box won't appear after the first time you've entered the code for that issue, to save you time on the subsequent occasions that you want to download content.

I'm concerned that you're getting an error message when you attempt to download the files, though. I've just been through them in the office and haven't come across any problems, so if you could recheck the ones that were being problematic and let me know that'd be really helpful.

All the best,

Matt

Hi Matt,

The pages I was getting Error 404 on are now ok , but selecting the Army List 1915
takes me to the page showing the latest Forum posts and a " page not found message ".

Hi Colin,

That's really odd – I've checked that on a couple of computers here in the office and that file is opening on all of them. Have you tried opening it in a different browser?

Sorry that you're experiencing these problems!
