I have an 1851 Irish census and i have been told it is rare to have one surviving so long. I know that we are lucky to have this census surviving but i think it is down to the fact that there was a farm involved and that they asked for it to be sent back so that they would have some account of where, when and who was there when it was taken. That is my take on it but i could be wrong about the farm idea. It was taken in West Cork in a Townland outside the villiage of Glengarriff. I am just wondering if this is the only surviving census for that year or if there is more.
I can upload a copy of it if someone wants to see it.
