Any Plans for the show to seen in the USA

Postby Higginsworldwide » Fri Jan 18, 2008 4:50 pm

Are there any plans for the show to be seen in the USA ,perhaps on BBC America or on Public Broadcasting.
It would also be very interesting to see it licensed so an American version could be done ,focusing on American celebrities and notable people.
Also ,is it available on DVD so that it can be played on U.S. dvd players.

Thanks for any reply !!!!!!!!

Hey Higginsworldwide,

The first two series of BBC Who Do You Think You Are? are out on Region 2 DVD and can be purchased from online retailers such as Amazon and BBCShop. If you have a multiregional DVD player, then you should be able to play them without any problem.

Apparently, the British series are occasionally shown on local PBS (Public Broadcasting Stations) but at unsociable hours such as the middle of the night. At the moment though, I am unaware of an 'American' version being made, which is a pity - I'd be interested in finding out about several American actors and their family history.

I know there is a Canadian version of the series that started on Oct 11th 2007 on CBC. Guests included Don Cherry, Chantal Kreviazuk, Shaun Majumder, Sonja Smits, Randy Bachman, Mary Walsh, Margot Kidder, Lewis MacKenzie, Steven Page, Avi Lewis, Margaret Trudeau, Scott Thompson and Measha Brueggergosman.

Strangely enough, there is also an Australian version that has just started there on Channel SBS. Guests include Jack Thompson, Kate Ceberano, Geoffrey Robertson, Cathy Freeman, Dennis Commetti and Ita Buttrose.
