Griffin Tigwell

Postby JudiB » Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:40 pm

My great, great uncle Griffin Tigwell 1888-1957 sent the attached postcards to his sister (my great grandmother) from Hayling Island. Griffin was in the police in 1915 and we think that he joined up in 1916. I have discovered that he served in 3 different units during the WW1: 24th London Rifles, Royal Irish Fusilliers and 22nd London Rifles. He survived the war and returned to the police. On the back of one of the postcards he has written that the photo is of a Lewis Gun Team.
Does anyone know if these postcards mass produced or whether these might be of men that Griffin knew or indeed of Griffin himself? One postcard does say that it is of his last squad.
Also, can anyone tell me which units these might be.
Many thanks

The cap badges in the bottom photo look like the Machine Gun Corps badge whereas in the top photo they seem to be wearing different badges to each other. Other than that, I'm afraid I can't be of more help :(
By the way, have you seen Griffin's service record on Ancestry?
