Celebs for next series

Postby Genequeen » Mon Jan 07, 2008 7:26 pm

So who do we want to see in the next series of WDYTYA? Here's my "dream" list, can't see it happening though...[8|]

Sally Gunnell
Lord Levy
Professor AC Grayling
The Stig (Top Gear)
Alfie Moon
Norman Tebbit
Ant & Dec
The Duke of Edinburgh

What do others think? Can anyone top my list?

well I think it would be nice if they did non celebrities for one series (i.e. me lol) I have been stuck researching my great grandfather for 4 years, he is an elusive one, due to being a theatrical actor.

but failing that my next celebrity line up fav's would be:

Fern Brytton
Gordon Ramsay
(any of Take That)
Lee Evans
Helen Mirren
Dawn French
Gok Wan
Richard Branson
Dermot O'Leary
Trevor McDonald

when googling earlier, I saw that Canada are airing there own who do you think you are series. It would be great if that was shown over here as well. I doubt it though.

Anderson & Marr - Midlothian & East Lothian
Bennett - Devonport
Cullen & Dowling - Waterford, Ireland
Littlejohns - Plymouth & London
Mansfield - Benfleet & St Pancras

The celebrities I would like to see given the chance of researching their family history are:

1) the late Dr Fred Dibnah (a member of his family to do the research)
2) Richard Hammond (aka Hamster, Top Gear)
3) Christina Aguilera (mostly like in the USA verison of WDYTYA?)
4) Andy Crane (former children's BBC presenter)
5) Keisha Buchanan (the only founding member of the Sugababes left in the current line-up)
6) Pierce Brosnan (formerly 007 actor/current narrator of "Thomas & Friends" TV Series

How about Ken BRUCE from Radio 2? He is my cousin and it sure would save me a lot of work................!!!!!!!

Yes, John, I have that story too--my dad used to talk about 'Robert' a lot! If I can get to the bottom of a mystery over my grandad then I can trace that line right back to the Royal one himself!

Celebs for next series

Postby ksouthall » Sun Oct 26, 2008 2:10 am

I am a bit behind the times here, but I'd like to see the following researched:-

Neville Southall
John Terry
Jonathan Woodgate
Sir Bobby Robson
Phil Tufnell (or has he already been done?)

Bit of a sporting theme here. There are probably plenty of others but I can't think of any.

I forgot to include Steven Gerrard in my list.

May as well just do the whole England football team.

That would get lots more kids interested in family history. My children really want to see footballers on there.

Actually, it's hard to say . . . some of the best programmes in the past series have been of people I've never heard of. And some I've found most disappointing have been people I'd expected to be most interested in.

The trouble with VERY famous people (such as royalty or the nobility) is they already know who their families are - the best programmes are those that come up with surprises. Secondly, you need a celebrity who's genuinely interested in the outcome of the research, whatever it may bring.

I'd be interested in:

Bobby Charlton
Tracy Emin
Simon Rattle
Beryl Bainbridge
Digby Jones
Diane Abbott
Dawn French

as they're interesting people that not too much is known about - well, by me anyway.

And while we wait for the next series why can't we see an overseas version? I'd be very interested in the Australian version of the programme, as some of my ancestors were transported there!
