Searching for William Sykes

Postby katy.vine » Sat Sep 25, 2010 7:17 pm

Hi

I am wondering if anyone can help me find a William Sykes who was a Forgeman in Sheffield in 1935. I don't know that much about him. He did have at least two daughters - one called Florence Sykes who was born in 1916 and another called Jessie who I believe could have been older than this.

I am a bit stuck about where to go as there seem to be a lot of Sykes

They came from Sheffield

Any info would be great

Thanks

Katy

There's a Florence Sykes with birth registered in Sheffield in 1916, with mother's maiden name of HEMMENS.
Births Jun 1916 Sykes Florence Hemmens Sheffield 9c 1036

This is probably the marriage of her parents:
Marriages Mar 1915
SYKES William Hemmens Ecclesall B. 9c 476
HEMMENS Jane Sykes Ecclesall B. 9c 476

And here's her sister's birth:
Births Jun 1915 Sykes Jessie Hemmens Ecclesall B. 9c 755

Good hunting! Sylvia

Katy

I hope you are still on this Forum!

The Sykes family, including William lived in my house for 37 years! Are you a relative of William Sykes?

I am new to this forum, I just googled william sykes and found your post. Florence and Jessie also lived in our house. If there is a way of doing a private message to you let me know!
