Book Review - Hunting Reminiscences

Postby John Press » Sun Mar 28, 2010 8:37 pm

Whilst researching early ancesters of mine, one of whom was a Master of the Hounds, I purchased 'With Hound and Terrier in the Field; Hunting Reminiscences' by Alys F. Serrell published in 1904. My copy was a soft back printed in 2009 by General Books. It contained a vast number of anecdotes, many relating to my Great Great Grandfather. These alone made the purchase worthwhile. I was slightly concerned to begin with as a list of illustrations was printed at the front of the book, yet no photographs appeared within the covers. However, I need not have worried, as all illustrations were available to download free of charge. I now have a photograph of my ancester, on a horse, taken round about 1875. Certainly, this was an excellent purchase which helped me no end in my research.
