Lauder Brothers started operating as a daguerreotype studio on Capel Street in Dublin in 1853. The proprietor was Edmund Stanley Lauder. Edmund Stanley Lauder died in 1895.

In 1880 his son, James Stack Lauder (1853 - 1923) founded the Lafayette Studio, becoming the first Irish photographer to be granted the Royal Warrant after photographing Queen Victoria in her Golden Jubilee year, 1887.

There is some information about the family at the following link:-

Lauder Brothers were operating in 45 Lower Sackville Street by 1861.

I will try and narrow the search down further for you.

I also have a photo from Lauder Bros from 45 Lower Sackville St. The number is 5206. I think the photo was taken in the 1860s or 1870s but I am trying to narrow it down.
Did you find out any further information about your photo?

Several members of the Lauder family (Edmund, Edward Stanley etc) operated from 45 Lwr Sackville street from the mid 1850s to at least 1904, but based on directory listing the only times it was listed as 'Lauder Bros.' was between about 1880 and 1884.

Hi
I have 2 (dates unknown) Lauder Bros digital copies of original photos but obviously taken at very different times. 1 possibly 1860/70's & the other possibly in the region of between 1895 & 1905. This later photo has the studio as at Westmoreland St & Lower Sackville St. The old picture only had Lauder Bros on as far as I can tell on the front. Being digital copies I have no idea what may have been on the backs.
Any more help out there?

Lauder brothers are listed with addresses at 45 Lower Sackville st. and 32 Westmoreland st from at least 1868 to 1the 1890s, mostly under that name but sometimes as initials or names - e.g. Edmund S. Lauder, E. and J. Lauder. From about 1880 an address at 22 Westmoreland street appears, and later from about 1916 is the only address listed in directories with the name for the business as 'J.E. Stanley & Lauder'
