Yet another Uniform question

Postby SteveP » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:32 pm

Hello to all,
My Granfather, Ernest Joel Pegram served in the Tank Corps, 92610.
I visited the national archives and found the roll of honours entry, but it contained no details of which regiment/division/battalion he served in.
On contacting Bovington Tank Museum, they said they could only look up an individual if they new which regiment he served in. I drew a blank. Then recently i was given an image of Ernest when he was in uniform in 1917.
Can anybody identify from this image his regiment/division/battalion.
I know nothing about uniforms or badges, so this seems a long shot.

Hello Steve,

I have been asking my father about the picture and he says that the leather belts gives a clue to the regiment that Ernest would of been in. There are only a few regiments that wore leather belts one being the Royal Engineers- the cap badge looks to have a crown and laurel which is the Royal Engineers cap badge, do you have a bigger photo. Also the "Putties" the bindings around his legs which are wrapped around his legs were worn by the Infantry. Did Earnest have any badges on his arm that is not on the above photo.

Kind regards
