military burial

Postby Sharawaggiresearcher » Mon Apr 27, 2009 11:30 pm

My great uncle received a full military honours funeral two years after discharge as incurable and unfit for service.
Was this usual in 1918?
My uncle was the son of a reprobate farm labourer and was but a private in the military.

Have you checked the Medal Cards at TNA? My great uncle was buried with full military honours in 1945 because he had been awarded the Military Medal in WWI.

Also, have you checked local newspapers? This is the sort of thing which is likely to have been reported.
