War records

Postby 2cherrytree » Fri Oct 26, 2007 6:26 am

According to family stories, my aunt was arrested as a Nazi spy during the war ...imprisoned in Holloway prison ...and had her case reviewed by the House of Lords before being interned in the Isle of Man.

Where can I find records to substantiate all this? Would realy like to find out.

The National Archives has a research guide entitled something along the lines of " Prisoners of War in British Hands". That may provide guidance how to take your research forward.

If you go the Discovery database at The National Archives, Kew, and put your Aunt's name into the database and if the file/s survive and have been transferred then the files should be shown. If the files are closed you can ask under the Freedom of information Act to open it. The most relevant series are KV for the Security Service and HO for Home Office.
