The name Whyte seems to be quite common in Scotland. However, I will look into the other families that you found in Sutton and see what I can come up with.

I was going to check to see if they got married between Mary Magdalene's birth and Mary Whyte's death. You never know.
At least it may be possible to trace Mary Whyte through the 1861 and 1871 censuses now you know her approximate year of birth, assuming the information on the Death Certificate was correct.
