Yorkshire Miners

Postby Byron130 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 12:30 am

For over 100 years all my Morley ancesters were miners in and around Rotherham.
Does anyone know if there are local records for this area naming miners and which mines they worked in, either online or at a library?

I've looked on the Rotherham Family history society and this gives some info but mainly on people who were killed in pitt disasters.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you in advance if you do! [8|]

Take a look at [link=http://www.johndoxey.100freemb.com/silverwood]www.johndoxey.100freemb.com/silverwood[/link]. Somewhere there is a link 'see which pit the miners came from to Silverwood. On a quick look I found 3 Morleys. Its a very interesting site, do have a good look around it. Silverwood is one of the larger pits and is situated at Thrybergh, nr Rotherham.
