Irish Tree

Postby Looby Lou » Tue Dec 30, 2008 2:43 am

Hi there,

I've been searching for my mothers Irish roots for a lot of years now, including a search in Ireland (after a fashion !)but we have no county, town or starting point.
All Scottish Census say is, born Ireland, has anyone ANY ideas on how to go about this.
My G.G.Grandfather was Charles Collins son of Charles Collins and Mary ? Moning, they stayed on in Ireland, but Charles jnr first appears in Scottish records getting married to Mary Cairney 1858 Kilmarnock,Ayrshire. Both birth dates for this couple are gestimates according to the ages they gave for that document.Charles jnr b.circa 1837 and Mary b.circa 1841.
This is one of two brick walls I'm working on at the moment,so any help will be VERY welcome.

Thanks Looby
