DIVORCE. Jan Mag Info

Postby pre1837 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 7:20 pm

Help. I have been going round and round in circles getting no where and finding lots of 'Not Available' pages after trolling through the article on pages 32/33 in the latest mag.
I am trying to find if my Grandparents may have divorced between say 1910 and 1930.
Is there a web site where I can check for any divorce using the Surname/s without payment. I do not neccesary need the details of the divorce, just to establish IF there was one. Even some of the addresses in the article go nowhere.
Interested in the surname SNELL circa 1910, Middlesex. and Claudia Vail nee Snell, living and married in Canada from about 1912/16.

Hi pre1837. What was your Grandparents' surname? I could have a look for you.

This is the link you need to the National Archives catalogue search facility: [link=http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp]http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp[/link]

Once you on the 'search the catalogue' page you should get a box that says 'Word or phrase'. Type in the surname here. Then choose your 'Year range' - be generous. Finally, you get a box which says 'Department or Series code'. That is where you need to type in J77 so that you are only looking at divorce material. It definitely works as I found a divorce there.

Good luck!

Thank you Sarah. Spot on.....but no luck. So far: No B, M or D records. House that I know was there not listed in 1911 Census and now no divorce!
