1821 Census - East Sussex Returns

Postby ksouthall » Tue Dec 23, 2008 3:43 pm

The latest issue of the magazine, January 2009, discusses the 1821 Census and suggests where to look to find out if any returns still exist for areas you are researching.
For people with ancestors in East Sussex, the returns for Chiddingly and East Hoathly have survived.
I have a copy of the transcripts on disc so can provide a look up service free of charge, if anyone is researching these areas.
The Chiddingly return is very detailed, giving information about all household members, not just the head of the family. Luckily for me, some of my ancestors were living in Chiddingly at the time.
I hope this information is of use to people.
