Family Tree Maker 2009 Platinum Edition advert in NOV WDYTYA

Postby Prydeinwr » Mon Oct 27, 2008 6:26 pm

There is a special offer in the current November edition. A 50% reduction on the list price - it appealed to me but it can't be found on Ancestry nor Avanquest websites. Can this offer be made to stick??

Any ideas anyone?

best wishes

This offer is being made by an independant seller, not Ancestry. Try their own web site.
Interested in the surname SNELL circa 1910, Middlesex. and Claudia Vail nee Snell, living and married in Canada from about 1912/16.

Hi pre1837,
many thanks for your reply.
Yes, I saw it is an independent reseller named Avanquest but the offer is not mentioned on their website and as it is advertised as available I am at a loss as to why.

I'll try once more.

Hello pre 1837 and many thanks for your reply. I am aware it is an independent reseller they are Avanquest and as I wrote earlier the offer is not available on their website. It's almost a half page ad' so I feel it cannot be a mistake.
May the website is lagging a little behind the ad'.

I'll try it again.

Thanks for your reply

Just in case their is anyone having the same problem I had searching for the 50% off offer for FTM 2009 Platinum edition. It is NOT on www.avanquest.com
but it IS on www.avanquest.co.uk/ftm
Even though there is a UK www.avanquest.com - the offer is only available on www.avanquest.co.uk/ftm

That is the web address that they give in their advert in WDYTYA. Never tried the short version. So many sites are only a .com or a .co.uk different.

Let us know if you do order it and what its like after you have tried it.

I am STILL waiting for a reply from Ancestry.co.uk with the info about getting the update for the 2008 version to turn it into the 2009 version.

Thanks for your last comment pre1837 - I have phoned, emailed about the free upgrade from FTM 2008 to FTM 2009. I was assured I would get it. On the phone they said they would send me an email link and by email they said they would send a voucher. I was promised that it would be sorted out by the first week in October! So far I have had nothing. I thought it was just me. Glad I'm not the only one. I am almost tempted to pay for the upgrade as there are charts etc. I really need, but why should I?

At least you got replies, although they seem to have come to nothing.

I e -mailed them twice and so far, have not even had the courtesy of a reply.

Perhaps they have bitten off more than they could chew. Maybe, so many 2008 owners wanting the update would leave the new 2009 version on the shelves, otherwise, why is it already being offered with a 50% discount?

Perhaps someone with some clout in the industry could make things move along a bit.

Have found a free phone number. The first time I rang I was promised an e-mail with the Code Number to obtain the update. E-mail never came. The second time I phoned, I was given the Code number over the phone, contacted the site and have ordered the free disk with just the P & P to pay. Just waiting now for the post office to deliver it.
