Shadrach Hall

Postby suzy100 » Mon May 18, 2020 9:12 pm

I cannot find Shadrack/Shadrach Hall after his Baptism in Duffield in 1806. His father was Patrick Hall (Schoolmaster) Mother Sarah Hall died 1816. He has just disappeared. I have found another Shadrach Hall but he was born in Staffordshire about 1810 so not that one. His father was a convict in 1829 sent to Tasmania. Any help much appreciated.

I have just done a search on FreeBMD using the spelling Shadrach. There was a marriage in 1842 registered in Dudley. A death in 1860 registered Wolverhampton, but you may have found these.
I am sorry I can't be of more help.

Do you mean DRiffield e Yorks or DUFFIELD Derbys.

I can see a baptism for Shadrach Hall s/o Patrick & Sarah HALL 8 Dec 1805 Duffield on ancestry

There was a child Sarah Hall bp 17 Sept 1816 died 20 Sept 1816 at Denby Dale.

These are on familysearch.prg. I typed the surname in together with the Parent's name and found several baptism.

If Shadrach (b1805) was the son of Patrick Hall, schoolmaster, and his wife Sarah, who died in 1816, he would have been about 11 when his mother died. Have you ruled out the possibility that Patrick or Sarah's extended family may have taken him in? Or was he sent to an industrial school? Or to the forces? There's a dragoon listed as 'Joseph or Shadrach' Hall in British Army Service Records, and while he may not be yours, it's possible Shadrach may have been sent to the army or to sea.
