There were just the four of them aboard and the ship was described as a Keel, involved in the river trade, so presumably they were living on it.

Sorry, I missed your post too. The 2019 thread also suggests the same death that I was looking at, reported in the Lincolnshire Chronicle 17 March 1854

"At Grimsby, on the 9th instant.....William Jones, after a lingering illness, aged 28"

Thank you - I have just got back into my research (seem to have a bit more time on my hands) and vaguely recall this info. But got bogged down with a different William Jones. Thanks all! That Free Reg site is good, thanks for the tip. Didn’t know about that one.

I narrowed down possible deaths first, based on age & location, then filtered the newspaper search to the relevant year. A pre-1861 death seemed most likely at the outset because of the 1861 census.

Because of the common name I also added Grimsby in the 'extra info' field, but sometimes less is better.
