Please can anyone help with my McCullough line of my family tree. My grandmother Phyllis McCullough was born in Great Yarmouth (1925) aswas her father William C McCullough in 1902. His father came from Northern Ireland, but I don’t know his name or any further back. Is McCullough an Irish or Scottish name/family originally ?

Hello history Geek
There is a baptism for your great grandfather in Gt Yarmouth

William Charles Clifford MCCullough born 6 Jan 1902 bapt 19 Feb son of William Henry and Maud Mary Ann McCullogh Row 10 (the address) greengrocer.
His parents are born 1870 and 1872 at Norwich and Gt Yarmouth according to the census.

Here's the 1901 census Gt Yarmouth row 10
William Henry McCullough 30 greengrocer (army reserve) Norwich
Maude Mary Ann 20 Yarmouth
John 4 Yarmouth

They married Dec qtr 1897 at Yarmouth and she was Maude Mary Ann Johnson.

1881 Cemetery Road Yarmouth
Thomas McCullough 39 travelling Draper born Ireland Roy? Down
Jane 35 Norwich wife
Minnie Maria12
William H 10 Norwich
Annie M 3mths Yarmouth

1861 Dereham Road Heigham Norwich
Thomas H MCCullough 21 travelling draper Ireland

So it's his Dad who is from Northern Ireland
Thomas Henry MacC. married Dec qtr 1867 Norwich Emma Jane Ward

There are baptisms of McCullough's in Cty Down but before you look at them I'd get Thomas's marriage cert which will give you his father .

According to Surnamedb McCullough is an originally Scottish surname from the Gaelic MacCullaich and the current spelling is an anglicised version.
