Lizzie Mary Hanbury - where did you go

Postby batty » Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:29 pm

Lizzie Mary Hanbury (nee Coop) was born 4 Oct 1870 in Walworth, Newington, Southwark. She married John Hanbury in 1899, he died in 1932.
I have found Lizzie in the Electoral Rolls on Ancestry up to 1936 living at 38 Chatham Street, Lambeth. After that she disappears. I cannot find her on the 1939 Register and I have searched death and marriage records for her to no avail.
She did have a brother Edward Samuel Coop - who married an Emma Rebecca Bell and a half sister Ada Coop who married a Charles Frederick Frewer.
Any help tracking down Lizzie would be most appreciated

The only doubt I have over this suggestion is that the death index entry was registered in Stepney (East London) rather than Southwark (South-East London). Her name has changed but I suppose she could have been in an institution or a fatal accident in the Stepney area, the only real way is to order a copy of the online death certificate in pdf form from the General Register Office.

Thank you both for the info, I think I had seen this one but because it was Stepney, ignored it. However as the burial is in Southwark I will give it a go. Thanks again

She's in a communal grave with 9 others buried at 5 1/2 ft. I have a copy of the register if you want it.
