Ancestry Lookup and Burial Help!

Postby Lusby84 » Mon Feb 24, 2020 3:24 pm

My ancestor Robert Henry Wood was a Scale maker at 50 High Street, Maidstone and prior to that at 6-7 West Smithfield, London.

He was born ~1817 and died late Dec 1899 Fareham (whilst visiting daughter).
I have found a news paper clipping on FMP (see attached) that states he was taken by train back to Kent (Maidstone Cemetary). But I am unable to find a burial record for him.

I have done many search variations on FMP, searched findagrave and billion graves with no luck.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Burial would have been around 30/31 Dec 1899 - 5 Jan 1900.
Also mentioned in clipping is that he was a Freeman of the City of London. I don’t have a subscription to Ancestry as present so can’t view any records.
Would anyone kindly do a search for a potential record for him in (if there is one!).

London, England, Freedom of the City Admission Papers, 1681-1930

Name varies: Robert Henry Wood, Robert Wood and Henry Wood!

I’ve searched Ancestry and found the death record for Robert Wood (which I assume you have already) but no burial record.

I agree that it might be best to contact Maidstone cemetery direct. I have contacted cemeteries and found them to be very helpful

Not what you asked for but may give you a lead, googling brought these up

I wonder if it is Robert H's father Robert, who was granted the Freedom of the city of London, his obituary is recorded for 1859, he originated from Cirencester
